What would move each system

  • Land → Located

    A named site whose owner has agreed to a feasibility review, and a county that has not said no.

  • Jurisdiction → Negotiating

    A pre-application meeting on the record with the authority that would issue the permit.

  • Capital → Secured

    Committed funds in an account controlled by a legal entity with named directors, and a published account of where it goes.

  • Builders → Building

    Signed camp and artist agreements with grant amounts attached.

  • Admission → Available

    A site, a date, a permit, an insurer, and a safety plan. In that order, and not before.

Things that could stop this.

Any honest account of a project this size includes the ways it dies. These are ours, as we currently understand them.

  • No permittable land

    The hardest constraint by far, and the one we are spending most of our time on. Large temporary gatherings need a rare combination of acreage, access, and a jurisdiction willing to say yes. How we are looking

  • Capital that never closes

    A city of this kind is expensive before it earns anything. If the founding round does not form, the grants do not happen and we will say so plainly.

  • Insurance and safety

    Fire art, heavy rigging, and a remote site are insurable only with serious operators involved. If we cannot do it safely, we will not do it.

  • Not enough builders

    If the artists and camps do not come, there is no city — only an empty field with rules. This is the risk we can do most about, and the reason applications are open first.

  • Us

    If this turns into a lineup, a merch table, or a church service with sculpture around it, it will have failed even if it sells out. Hold us to that.
